2012 Topps Archives 1956 Relics

Set Type: Insert
Card dimensions: 2½” x 3½”
Additional Information/14,000 Phillies Commentary: Inserted in packs of 2012 Topps Archives. As suggested by the name, the design of the set is based on the 1956 Topps issue. The relic on the card is placed in the position originally occupied by the smaller in-action photo. In the checklist below, the relic type is listed in parenthesis after the player’s name. This is the second relic inset set containing just Rollins and Carlton released by Topps this year.

  1. The gold border Topps chose to surround the relic is kind of strange. It doesn’t fit wit the design of the card at all.

    • Agreed. It’s one of the few mistakes Topps made with Archives and its various inserts. Maybe they just had a little too much gold foil left over from the Museum Collection insets, and they had to get rid of it somehow.
