Set Type: Insert
Card Dimensions: 2½” x 3½”
Parallels: Black, serial numbered to 99; Nickname, serial numbered “1/1.” All parallels bear serial number on front of card.
Additional Information: Cards were inserted in specially-marked blaster packs of 2011 Topps. The manufacterd leather nameplate on the base cards used brown leather and block lettering in black stitching, while the Black parallels used black leather and cursive script in white stitching. The Nickname parallels used the same leather and stitching as the regular cards, but instead bore the player’s nickname rather than last name and number. The Utley, Howard and Halladay cards were distributed in Series One packs, and Schmidt and Ashburn were distributed in Series Two packs.
Any information as to what the nicknames Topps chose for the Phillies players is appreciated. Presumably (hopefully?), Topps used “Whitey” for Ashburn and “Doc” for Halladay.
