Set Type: Primary
Card dimensions: 2½” x 3½”
Rookie Cards: Franklin Nunez, Anderson Machado
Parallels: Gold Backs; Minis, serial #ed to 50 on back of card; Tiffany, serial #ed to 200 on back of card.
Inserts: Classic Cuts Game Used, Golden Memories, Headliners, Rookie Flashbacks, Rookie Sensations
Additional Information: The first set issued since 1997 to simply carry the “Fleer” brand name, which was rebranded as “Fleer Tradition” starting in 1998. However, this also marked the last time Fleer would do this before its bankruptcy and the sale of its trademarks to Upper Deck in 2005. (A Fleer Tradition set was also released in 2002 and would resume its place as the flagship brand again in 2003.)
As the name suggests, the Gold Back parallels replace the black ink on the back of the card with gold ink. Other than that, the cards are identical. The Mini parallels were a retail-only exclusive, while the Tiffany parallels were exclusive to hobby packs and employed a glossy front similar to that used by Fleer in its Glossy sets in the late ’80s.
